Wedding Cakes at Pronghorn Resort, From Trendy to Classic
Wedding season is upon us here at Pronghorn Resort and it has been a beautiful one so far! Weather has been perfect for many of our outdoor and Event Island ceremonies and receptions, and our brides are really impressing with their tailored, personal style throughout every corner of wedding décor. Pronghorn Resort was recently awarded as 2016 Best Country Club/Golf Course Venue: Outside Portland by Oregon Bride Magazine, the perfect backdrop for the wedding (and wedding cake) of your dreams!
One of our favorite parts of every wedding is the wedding cake. No two are alike and we are fortunate here in Bend, Oregon to have some incredibly talented bakers that specialize in wedding cake design. Take a look at a few trends we’re seeing this year in wedding cakes.
Bohemian, or Boho Chic, is all the rage right now. Think geodes, succulants, air plants, and earthy colors and textures. The look can also be rich and luxurious, as you can see from this stunning wedding cake by Foxtail Bakeshop. Three tiers covered in metallic buttercream (another hot trend in wedding cakes right now), with delicate homemade French macaroons decorating the table. A single air plant for the focal point and voila, perfection. Flowers by Summer Robbins Flowers. Photography by Charlie Theil. Rentals by AE Creative.
With a wedding location in beautiful Bend, Oregon, nature can easily inspire! This wedding cake, by Foxtail Bakeshop, takes the aspen tree, which you can find here on property at Pronghorn Resort, and turns it into a whimsical cake reminiscent of childhood dreams. Can’t we all remember carving our initials into a tree trunk on a warm summer day? Photography by Velvet Owl Photography.
Buttercream frosting is classic and delicious, and we’re very happy to see this trend return. This wedding cake, by Dreamin’ Desserts was actually designed from the bride’s wedding dress! The beautiful dessert bar you see behind the wedding cake also continues to be a popular and pleasing way to share sweets with your guests.
This style of wedding cake is perfection. It’s a see-it-to-believe-it experience. The five-tier wedding cake was literally split down the middle and then meticulously filled with gorgeous, cascading silk flowers. A very rare and difficult cake to perfect, we can’t say it’s trending just yet. We decided to include it in this list because it’s just so incredibly beautiful, how could we not? You can almost see the halves coming together, creating a perfect picture of beauty. Just like the happily wed couple it awaits. Wedding cake by Foxtail Bakeshop.
