Hit the slopes on July 4th

Mt. Bachelor received nearly 600 inches of snow this winter season and plans to reopen for skiing and snowboarding for “JulySki” July 2-4. Among the many other fun opportunities in Bend on July 4th, this one ranks high. Don’t miss the chance to say you skied the Summit in shorts this July 4th! Learn more here.

You likely won’t be quite as bundled up on the 4th of July! Shorts may be in order as you ski the Summit of Mt. Bachelor during JulySki July 2-4.

Watch a movie under the stars

Grab a cozy blanket and join us on the event lawn this summer for “Pronghorn Movies on the Lawn.” Because nothing says family summer more than an outdoor movie under the Central Oregon night sky. The movies will start approximately 30 minutes after sunset, around 9:20pm. We advise you to arrive one hour prior to sunset to find your seats, grab snacks, and get comfy. We’ll have popcorn and light snacks too! Movies are July 3: The Beatles: A Hard Day’s Night RSVP here; July 14: Guardians of the Galaxy RSVP here; July 28: The Greatest Game Ever Played RSVP here; August 11: Beauty and the Beast RSVP here; August 25: Silverado RSVP here. Before or just after movie time, roast a s’mores or two around one of our fire pits.

Enjoy our fire pits and s’mores before our after “Pronghorn Movies on the Range” June 28, July 14, July 28, August 11, and August 25.

Canoe a crystal clear mountain lake

A lazy summer paddle in a canoe is a fun way to spend a family day in Central Oregon. The kids are only small enough to fit in one boat for a short time. Soon they’ll be in their own watercraft speeding ahead of you. Take advantage of this time and rent a canoe for a self-guided adventure, or take a canoe tour with Wanderlust Tours. Either way, your time on one of our beautiful Cascade Lakes will make memories to last a lifetime.

Hop in a canoe while they are still little enough to join you! Paddle through the crystal clear waters of a Cascade Lake and leave room for laughter.

Watch 4th of July fireworks from the sky

While there are plenty of fantastic fireworks viewing spots in and around Bend, none can match the vantage point from the sky. Big Mountain Heli-Tours will take you up and away through the sky, doors off, for the most exciting viewing spot in town. They will even pick you up right here at Pronghorn Resort. Enjoy dinner and drinks at Trailhead while the kids take one more swim, and then head out on your adventure in the sky. Learn more here.

Ride a surrey through the Old Mill District

Tandem bikes are fun. But a four- to six-seat surrey is the best way to move a giggling family through the Old Mill District. Rent a surrey from Wheel Fun Rentals and then pedal your way along the Deschutes River Trail through the Old Mill District. You’ll pass paddle boarders and shoppers along the way. Stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants in the Old Mill District, or take a ride before catching a free concert at Les Schwab Amphitheater on Sunday afternoons.

Ride a surrey through the Old Mill District. Festive fun for any age and a great way to see the sights, including the beautiful Deschutes River and Les Schwab Amphitheater.

Play a round of no-pressure, all-fun golf

Some parents save golf for themselves. This summer, why not let your little ones join you for a round or two? It’s a great way to bond, have fun, and get them interested in the game at a young age. If you’d like the kids to learn some skills before teeing off, schedule a private lesson with one of our instructors or sign up for a Junior Golf Clinic held every Friday this summer. You never know where a love for the game of golf will take them in life, and imagine the photo opportunities. You can also try a family game of foot golf for a faster-paced friendly competition. Foot golf is a great way to run energy out of the kids before bed! After a day of golf, the whole family will need a treat. Head to the Trailhead Grill after your round for house-made Italian Sodas and some pool or hot tub time.

Grab the whole family for a game of foot golf! It’s a new fun way to enjoy the game and the perfect evening activity at Pronghorn Resort!
