8 Chefs go head to head in Kitchen Stadium this weekend in Downtown Bend

The Bite of Bend hits downtown Bend this weekend, June 17-19. The annual food festival is best described as an “Appalooza” for foodies in the region. Graze on $2 Bites from incredible restaurants and food carts, join in Mixology tastings and workshops, run the Beer Run, and watch the live Top Chef competition for head-to-head culinary action on stage.

We’re excited to announce that Pronghorn Executive Chef Kevin Linde will compete in this year’s Top Chef competition, let’s cheer him on! Each round pits two chefs against each other in a round robin style competition. The chefs are presented with a mystery ingredient and must, in one hour, come up with a dish that wows the palettes of the distinguished panel of judges.

Chef Linde is bringing Brandon Shotwell, culinary arts teacher at Ridgeview High School in Redmond, as his sous chef. Brandon leads an impressive culinary program and these two make the perfect team. They’ve been prepping and planning in the Pronghorn Resort kitchen for a few days, getting ready to flex their chef muscles!

Play with liquid nitrogen

Chefs love to play and experiment and the Bite of Bend Top Chef competition is the perfect opportunity to do just that. All Chef Linde needs? Liquid nitrogen and a whisk.


Create some beautiful looking foam

Lemon foam and liquid nitrogen loganberries, beautiful and packed full of fresh flavor. Curious where Chef Linde will take this idea during the competition? You’ll have to be there to find out.
