Choosing a wedding venue is the most important decision you’ll make. Most brides select their wedding dress first, and their venue second. It’s that important. Before you select your wedding venue, be sure it is the right fit for you and your special day. From size and location to catering and bar services, there are many things to think about before you make this very important choice.

Here are eight important things to think about when picking your wedding venue.

The venue’s size and capacity

Before you select your wedding venue, you should have a clear idea of how large your guest list will be. Are you having a large wedding with every cousin and high school friend in attendance? Or will it be smaller and more intimate? Maybe you’re contemplating an elopement with just the two of you or a group of ten of your closest friends and family. Pronghorn Resort has several indoor and outdoor wedding venues that cater to a wide variety of wedding sizes.

Event Island is one of our most popular outdoor venue options. This private island is located just steps from the Clubhouse. With 360-degree panoramic views of the Clubhouse, the Cascade Mountains and our Tom Fazio Championship Golf Course, Event Island sets the stage for a gorgeous wedding ceremony. The 7,000-square-foot private island offers seating for up to 300 guests on the lawn. There is nothing more romantic than a bride’s dramatic walk over the bridge to Event Island.

The Clubhouse and its surrounding area also provide spectacular venue options for up to 500 guests. Choose from several luxurious indoor spaces in the Clubhouse or the expansive outdoor event lawn. If you are hosting a more intimate event or elopement, Pronghorn Resort will help you select an incredible space for your wedding day.

Indoor and outdoor options

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, you want to be sure your venue has as an indoor option as well. A backup plan for inclement weather is always a good idea. A tented outdoor reception can also make your wedding day less stressful. Pronghorn Resort has several indoor and outdoor wedding venue options to choose from. Our professional wedding and event coordinators will help you select the venues that are best for you and your budget.

Wedding party photo shoot locations and backdrops

When you visit possible wedding venue locations, be sure to think about your wedding day photography. If you love outdoor photos, are there backdrops in the landscape that are special enough to remember forever? If you prefer indoor photography, is the space both beautiful and romantic? Look through some wedding photographers’ portfolios to see how they’ve captured couples at your top wedding venue choice. At Pronghorn Resort, you’ll find gorgeous backdrops at every turn. From the iconic lava tube and stunning golf course sunsets to the romantic hallways of the Clubhouse, memories of your wedding venue will be cherished for generations to come.
