Here is how to plan a wedding in Bend, Oregon, according to a few of our preferred wedding partners.
Keep the fun going after the wedding is over.
“Scenery and an unlimited amount of fun things to do for guests are two of the top reasons we hear from our couples picking Central Oregon for their wedding location. Whenever we ask brides and grooms what they want from their wedding, many times we hear, ‘we want to enjoy spending as much time with our friends and family in this amazing area and at our wedding.’ Byron Roe Photography’s advice for a wedding couple would be to gather some information on fun things to do in our area and send these out to all family and friends attending. Put this info into a packet that shows you care about their experience at your wedding and in Central Oregon. You’ll probably find you’ll ultimately entice more people to come when they see how cool this area is and maybe even get them to stay for a little vacation time! Byron Roe Photography works hard to make it easy for our busy couples by having an adventure guide that our clients can forward on to all their family & friends!” -Byron Roe, Byron Roe Photography

Take photos together before the ceremony.
“See each other for portraits before the ceremony on the wedding day! It’s a choice that is not for everyone but having a photography timeline that accommodates for portraits ahead of the ceremony lets the couple enjoy more of their reception and guest interaction and lets the photographer have more time and flexibility on locations to make full use of venue grounds and have opportunities to push the envelope creatively while photographing the bride and groom.” -Marina Koslow, Marina Koslow Photography
Make your wedding a vacation.
“Make a weekend out of your wedding. Stay at a beautiful resort like Pronghorn Resort the whole weekend with your closest friends and family. There are so many amazing activities in Bend and the surrounding area and one day just isn’t enough.” -Madison Hartley, Hart Floral
Plan a brewery-hopping tour for your guests! There are so many to choose from in Bend, Oregon. Start at Crux Fermentation Project.
Plan your wedding around a concert date at Les Schwab Amphitheater and listen to music on the banks of the Deschutes River.
A winter wedding couple can take advantage of winter fun! Plan a Bonfire on the Snow snowshoe tour with Wanderlust Tours.
Think about the sun when choosing your ceremony time.
“When planning a wedding in Bend, couples sometimes forget to take into account that the sun can be very harsh in the high desert. We recommend that they visit the site ahead of time at the time of day their ceremony will take place to see where the sun will be. If couples are going to use an arbor, they should make sure that it won’t cast strange shaped shadows onto them. A late afternoon ceremony means that shadows are longer, which can provide more diffused shade since the sun is lower than midday. The prime time slot for getting gorgeous sunset shots is about 30 minutes before the sun sets, so couples should be aware of the sunset time on their wedding day.” -Stephanie & Brian Yun, Ace of Hearts Films

Focus on the important things.
“Remember to take the time to truly appreciate and enjoy every part of your day. From the getting ready process, to decorating, the photos and the ceremony. There will be things that go perfectly, and things that don’t. Focus on the important things, and enjoy it all!” -Lori Tompos, Edge Hair & Makeup

Have a plan B.
“Everyone wants to take advantage of the scenery and outdoor venues in Bend. But couples should remember to account for the wind, heat, summer thunderstorms. Remember to have museum putty for securing decor, and always choose a venue with indoor and outdoor options. A point person to handle unexpected elements and decisions also helps tremendously.” -Kimi Chassie, Peanut’s Gallery Bend
