Cheers! What makes The Huntington cocktail special?

When Sarah was designing the cocktail menu for The Coyote, she knew she wanted a beverage that reflected both the design and inspiration behind the Huntington Lodge. The earth and its natural elements play a central role in the aesthetic of the Lodge. She wanted the signature cocktail to mirror that organic, earthy vibe. Gin, Grand Marnier, lime, agave, a combination of bitters, soda water, juniper, and voila! The Huntington cocktail was born.

What really makes this cocktail shine is the gin selection. Sarah chose Hendrick’s Gin because of its unique flavor profile. Hendrick’s is infused with the essence of rose and cucumber, combined with a divine blend of eleven other botanicals. The balance and botanical notes are perfect for this high desert cocktail.

Add a juniper sprig for a nod to the high desert.

Pronghorn Resort and the Huntington Lodge is surrounded by 640 acres amidst Central Oregon’s 1,000-year-old juniper forest. You can see and smell these iconic trees at every turn at Pronghorn. A simple, smoked juniper twig is the perfect endnote to this gin cocktail. Beautiful to look at, interesting to sip, and a flavor that will always bring you back to your time at the Huntington Lodge.

This cocktail is an ode to the Huntington Lodge—a Condé Nast Traveler Hottest New Hotel Opening

The Huntington Lodge is at the heart of the 640-acre Pronghorn Resort community. With easy access to all of the resort’s amenities, including golf, pools, spa, dining and activities, the Huntington Lodge offers something for everyone. Whether it is The Huntington cocktail at sunset, an afternoon dip in the pool, or small plates at the lounge bar before an elegant dinner at Cascada, the Huntington Lodge welcomes you with modern design, luxurious comforts and the pristine beauty of this natural, high desert landscape.

Here’s what Condé Nast Traveler had to say about the Huntington Lodge:

“Bend is one of the Pacific Northwest’s best-kept secrets. It’s a sort of sleepier Boulder or Tahoe with excellent (and shockingly uncrowded) skiing at nearby Mount Bachelor in the winter; rafting and fly fishing on the Deschutes River; hiking, mountain biking, and trail running in the summer; and a robust craft beer and budding restaurant scene year-round.

The default way to tap into this high desert wonderland has always been to rent a vacation house in the nearby resort community of Sunriver, or to stay at one of the (kind of corporate) hotels in town. This is why the opening of Huntington Lodge, a 104-room retreat on 640 acres in the world’s second largest juniper forest, is such a big deal for the area.

Rooms have the perks of a rental home—fireplaces, kitchens, and terraces with views of the surrounding Cascade Mountains—but you also get access to the resort’s restaurants and its wellness teepee, where you can do a sage workshops, yoga classes, or a crystal sound meditation session.”

The Huntington cocktail is the perfect beverage to enjoy on your next visit to the Huntington Lodge! Or, make one at home and reminisce the serene high desert location.
