The day has come. Tee times are set. The weather looks awesome. Jerrel is getting a little hands-on with the course conditions. And in the end, we’re ready for what is sure to be a fantastic day of golf. The U.S. Open Local Qualifier comes to town tomorrow, May 10 with action all day long on our Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. It’s the only local qualifier in Oregon and one of only two in the Pacific Northwest. 120 players will join us, including several with ties to Central Oregon and our very own Director of Golf Jerrel Grow. We can’t wait to see what happens.
120 players… 7 will advance.
First tee time: 8:00am
Spectators are welcome free of charge
Spectator guidelines set up by the USGA are available at our welcome cottage at the front gate

Pros with ties to Central Oregon
120 players will join us for the qualifier. Only seven will emerge and move on to sectionals, and 2 additional as alternates. We’re excited to see so many familiar faces, including our own Director of Golf, Jerrel Grow, and several pros with ties to Central Oregon including Awbrey Glen’s Tim Fraley, Brasada Ranch’s Daniel Wendt, Broken Top’s Josh Hanson and Tetherow’s Chris van der Velde. Check out “The U.S. Open Dream Begins at Pronghorn”.
We’re also excited to see what Casey Martin brings to the tournament. Martin is a PGA tour veteran, former NCAA Champion, and now in his tenth season as University of Oregon Men’s Golf Team Head Coach, he’s credited with one of the Ducks’ most impressive resumes in any sport.
We also have three Pronghorn Resort members who will be competing on their home course, a special experience!
Jerrel’s Journey continues
If you’ve been following us on social media, you know that our Director of Golf Jerrel Grow is competing in the qualifier. He’s been sharing how he’s been getting ready for the competition, some serious, some not-so-serious. (You can catch up on some of it here.) We’ve followed him to Ft. Worth, Texas to Nike Golf’s The Oven, we’ve seen him park it in the bunkers for practice, we’ve seen him getting cardio in at the gym and on the mountain biking trails, we’ve seen him test out our new Golf Bikes. What’s he doing now you ask? Looks like someone gave him access to a mower last week.
And today a little practice in the sun. Check out that swing, and that bluebird sky.
We’ll continue to share Jerrel’s story on social media, so be sure to follow along with us through #JerrelsJourney on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
